Here at Phone Medics Plus, we are committed to helping you extend the lifespan of your device for as long as possible. That’s why we have offered battery replacement services to the people of Brevard County for more than four years.
In early 2017, users of certain older iPhone models began to notice that their phones were running slower after updating to iOS 10.2.1, and that replacing the battery fixed the problem. Rumor ran wild around the internet that Apple was deliberately using iOS software updates to slow down older phones in an attempt to entice users to upgrade to newer devices.
Apple quickly responded to the controversy, apologizing for the situation and explaining why they had chosen to slow the older iPhones down. While most of the components inside an iPhone don’t really break down with age, the battery is an exception. The lithium ion batteries inside most consumer electronics are perishable: they have a limited number of charge cycles, and as they age, the chemicals inside them break down. What that means is that the older your phone is, the less efficient your battery is, and the more impact on your phone’s performance you’ll see. Apple chose to compensate for this issue by reducing the speed of certain components - like the processor - in order to avoid putting too much strain on aging batteries and prevent unexpected shutdowns. Unfortunately, that meant that for some users, their device’s performance suffered, especially during tasks that used a lot of their phone’s resources. Even more unfortunately, Apple didn’t do a great job of communicating what they were doing and why.
In an effort to make things right for their users, Apple began offering customers a $50 discount on their battery replacement service for out-of-warranty phones. Customers can take their phone to any Apple Store location and have their battery replaced for the discounted price.
While that is undoubtedly a great deal for many users, it has a couple of important drawbacks. For one thing, the discount is only available to owners of certain iPhone models - the iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. If you’ve got an older phone, you’ll have to pay full price for your battery replacement. For another thing, the program is about to expire. If you have one of the covered models, you can only get the discounted price until December 31, 2018. After that, the discount goes away. On top of all that, the repair has to be done at an Apple Store, which is a bit of a problem for those of us here in Brevard, since the nearest one is in Orlando, an hour’s drive away.
Not to worry, though. Here at Phone Medics Plus, we’ve got you covered. We perform battery replacements on a wide variety of iPhone models, and we’re right here in your community. So bring your phone into our repair facility at 91 E. Merritt Island Causeway in Merritt Island today and give it a new lease on life with our battery replacement service.
